Don't Even Tripp—Generation of Dreams

,

OAKLAND, Calif  ---  Two weeks ago, we honored Martin Luther King Jr. and others in the Civil Rights movement who were courageous enough to not remain silent. Instead, they stood together in solidarity and spoke loudly through their actions for peace, equality, and justice for all people. In 2015, we are following in the steps of Dr. King and speaking loudly on the social issues that plague our community. Don’t Even Tripp Productions has announced their IndieGoGo campaign to raise funds for their second original production, “Generation of Dreams.”
Generation of Dreams (G.O.D.) tells the story of two college students who are fed up with the social injustices plaguing society. These students are passionate about making a change and realize there is a high number of people in their generation who are quick to complain, but slow to take action. This play brings into question the issues of today’s social media activism, the struggles of chasing dreams, and navigating through the difficulties of trying to uplift communities who are only hurting themselves. The play also makes historical references to leaders such as Fred Hampton, Ella Baker, Huey P. Newton and other community organizers who refused to remain silent.
Don’t Even Tripp believes it is our responsibility artistically to speak out against the current issues facing today’s generation. We speak loudly through our productions and partner with other organizations also committed to uplifting the human life experience. We will be donating 25% of the ticket proceeds to the Oakland-based Ella Baker Center. The Ella Baker Center is committed to the concept of “...work[ing] together to strengthen our communities so that all of us can thrive." This is a goal that Don’t Even Tripp and Generation of Dreams is striving to reach with each person who is touched by our work.
Each day, we are reliant on all of our relationships in life to help us cultivate our best selves. Partner with us. Allow us to provide you with engaging and moving artistic experiences. Today, your contribution to this partnership can provide a vigorous heartbeat to what we’re doing - and it can be two-fold: both financially, and spreading the word organically. We thank you in advance for supporting our new movement in theatre. Please follow in the steps of Martin Luther King Jr. by not remaining silent or apathetic but instead, speaking loudly and fearlessly and always encouraging others to get involved!
